Founder identifies portrait of previously unknown judge!

April 2018 article in MassLive tells how Keith Downer, one of the founders of BVAE, was instrumental in identifying the portrait of a previously unknown judge hanging in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. The painting of Chief Justice Lemuel Shaw, who served the Court for 30 years (1830-1860), is believed to have been painted around 1830 when Shaw took office. Other known portraits of Shaw were all done much later in his career which added to the dificulty in the identification.
